Riba Haram Meski Nilainya Kecil

Ada orang beranggapan bahwa bertransaksi riba sah-sah saja asal nilainya masih dibawah batas kemampuan peminjam. Yang tidak boleh itu riba yang nilainya besar. Bunga pinjaman ratusan juta, misalnya, itu haram karena ‘mencekik’ peminjam dan membuat hidupnya sengsara. Jadi halal haramnya riba tergantung nilainya, apabila kecil maka halal.

Benarkah anggapan seperti itu?

Tidak ada dalil yang terang benderang membolehkan riba yang nilainya kecil. Ulama pun bersepakat tidak ada toleransi terkait nilai. Lihatlah dalil tegas dibawah ini:

“Satu dirham riba yang dimakan seseorang, sementara dia tahu, lebih buruk dari pada 36 kali berzina.” (HR. Ahmad 21957 dan ad-Daruquthni 2880)

Satu dirham adalah satuan mata uang emas terkecil untuk menunjukkan sekecil apapun tetap tidak dilarang.

Sekarang, mari kita lihat dari sudut pandang lain.

Kalau dipikir-pikir, apakah ada manfaat pemberian bunga bagi penerima pinjaman?

Ilustrasi

Seseorang yang meminjam Rp. 10.000 dengan bunga 10% hanya Rp. 1.000 memang terlihat kecil nilainya. Pemberi pinjaman mendapat untung, membuatnya jadi berjasa karena telah menolong orang lain. Tapi apa untungnya bagi peminjam? Bunga Rp. 1.000 itu tidak memberi keuntungan apapun untuknya. Tidak ada barang atau jasa yang dihasilkan dari nilai Rp. 1.000 untuk peminjam. Tidak ada manfaat baginya. Inilah kezaliman karena membayar untuk sesuatu yang tidak ada.

Lebih luas lagi, riba dilarang mutlak tanpa melihat nominal, status sosial orang (kaya atau miskin), dalam keadaan apapun dan bentuk apapun. Diharamkan atas pemberi utang dan penerimanya yang memberikan bunga, penulisnya, dan saksinya semua dilaknat.
